(#12) The Ballet

Hi All,
Tonight my Daughter Dawn, Daughter In-Law Jen and I all went to see "The Nutcraker" at the Civic Center in San Diego, Ca. It was presented by The California Ballet and they did a wonderful job. My favorite part was the dance of the Snow Queen and King, accompanied by the Snow Flakes, just a beautifully performed and choreographed dance. But the little dancers in the Sugar Plum Fairy Castle stole the show. They all did a great job and the music, provided by the San Diego Symphony, was marvelous too. It was so cute to see all these little girls all dressed up for the Ballet. Some out for a date with their Dad. Makes me wish I'd have been able to take my little girls, about 20 or so years ago, to see a Ballet. Don't get me wrong, it was fun taking the 20 something girls this time, but they didn't have the look of wonderment the little girls all around us had. I enjoyed the night, but I think I'd rather go to a Charger's game. Have a great week! Sue

(#11) A Day at the Spa / Mud bath

Hi All,
Yesterday was a fun and relaxing day. My first "Day at the Spa". My friend Kathy and I went to Glen Ivy Spa in Corona, Ca. We enjoyed all the different treatments they offered.
First we did a red clay mud bath,(that stuff is hard to scrub off and I recommend wearing an old bathing suit you don't care about because the clay stains), it was fun smearing it all over, then you sit in the sun and let it dry to pull out the impurities from the skin.
Secondly we had a sea kelp treatment in the underground grotto, they paint it on you with a paint brush, then you sit in the underground steam sauna a few minutes and let the moisturizing take effect,(this stuff was hard to get off too, but doesn't stain), your skin feels wonderful and smooth afterwards.
Then the best part of the day(for me anyway),was the full body Swedish massage. The worst thing about that is they make you leave after getting you so relaxed you are nodding off on the table.
We also sat in the jacuzzi a while and enjoyed that. We didn't participate in the water aerobics classes or the pool (that seemed more like work than relaxing), those didn't seem to fit the theme of the day "relax". Time also didn't permit for the above ground steam bath/sauna, so we'll have to do all those next time I guess. We are definitely doing this again!
Have a great weekend! Sunday is the Ballet. I'm starting to think I might actually get all these things accomplished by next Nov. 6th, 2006. God Bless! Sue

(#10) Go Chargers!

Well, my son Doug and I picked a heck of a good game to go to. My first Chargers game, and Pro Football game of any sort for that matter, was on Sun. Nov. 20th, 2005 It was fabulous! The Chargers won 48 over the Bills 10. We sat in the nose bleed seats, but that's Ok it was a beautiful day and you could see literally everything from up there. I wouldn't even mind the waiting over an hour to get in to and out of the parking lot to go again. However, the beer showers when the fights break out are a bit more than I cared for. The $5.50 for an Ice cream and $4.50 for a soda was enough to make me realize season tickets probably aren't going to be for me. Tailgating looked like fun, so I think next time I'll have to do that. It was fun and I will definately go again sometime. However, I'll try to avoid the beer showers in the future. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! Sue

(#8) Sky Diving & (#9) Wind Tunnel Flying

I had the most AWESOME Birthday! I think everybody should Sky Dive at least once in their life. I did my Tandem jump the same time my oldest son Conan and his wife Jenni and also my Son In-law Josh did, and my friend Rene' did a solo jump out at the Perris Airport in Perris, CA. We were all beginners, except Rene' who does this all the time. My Tandem Pilot (the guy they strap you to who knows what the heck he's doing) was named Vinnie. He is a real character and if you go out there to try this I hope you get him, he'll definitely make it fun. Although all the people who work there seem like fun, so you probably can't go wrong with any of them. After he did the initial somersault out of the plane and spun me around a few more times I convinced him to just sorta let me float the rest of the way down. Then he played tour guide and pointed out all the areas of interest. Did you know you can see Big Bear Lake a couple thousand feet above Perris, CA? I was amazed at how calm I was when I watched the DVD of my jump later on. It was truly a wonderful experience and I strongly suggest trying it once at least. I don't think I'd ever be able to throw myself out of a plane, so I admire those who have. But I sure would do another tandem dive with a big strong guy strapped to my back pushing me out again. I would be dangerous doing a solo jump, I'd start looking around in awe and forget to pull the cord (ouch!).
My son Doug was upset that he was to young to jump (you have to be 18), so we went to the Wind tunnel and flew there after the Sky Diving. It was harder that it looks, but I managed to stay up a few times unassisted. I also crashed into the side of the tunnel a few times to be honest. For that they give you a helmet, but dropping out of the sky a few thousand feet you only get goggles. What's wrong with this picture? I guess a helmet really wouldn't help much from that height anyway (splat). It was fun too, but not nearly as wonderful as the Jump was. It's probably a good thing to try before Sky Diving just to learn the basics and how to catch the wind right in free fall. They had Sky diving teams there working on routines in the tunnel and that was interesting to watch too.
Well, I hope you all go out and do something fun this weekend. Next weekend Doug and I are going to my first Pro Football game. GO CHARGERS!!! Have a great week, Sue

(#6) The Alpine Slide, what a ride! & (#7) Oktoberfest in Big Bear too!

Last Sat 10/30 the kids & I went up to Big Bear & rode the Alpine slide (# 6). It was a blast! My grandson kept saying "go again, go again". Then the 3rd time up the ski lift paused for about a min., since I did have the 3 y/o with me at the time I decided we'd had enough fun for one day. I had "emergency rescue" flashing through my brain & us on the 6 o'clock news. It didn't really happen of course, but getting stuck, even momentarily was enough to put a little panic into Grandma.
We also did Oktoberfest (#7) in Big Bear. My grandson & I danced to the Umpah pah band. He was so funny, he wanted to dance every dance & when he got tired thought it was a good idea for me to carry him & keep on dancing. Luckily his Mom & I tag teamed & she relieved me every 3 or 4 dances. I'd definately do both again. Especially with a fun guy like Isaac! I wonder if he'll still want to dance with me in another 10 or so years.
Tomorrow is my 49th Birthday & I'll be jumping out of an Airplane. If I don't post anything after this, then it's been nice knowing you & hopefully you'll all remember me fondly, Sue
