(#45) Hot Air Balloon Ride
Hi All,
Well, yesterday was an Adventure. Tony and I went for a Romantic one hour Hot Air Balloon "Sunset Champagne Flight",what was supposed to have been over Del Mar, CA. What we ended up getting was about 20 minutes over Encinitas and Rancho Sante Fe (just before sunset) until we landed in the bushes on the side of a hill in a backyard of a very exclusive neighborhood in Rancho Santa Fe. The people who owned the property we landed on were very helpful and nice even helping to pull the balloon out of the bushes (probably also out of fear the balloons' burner would catch their bushes on fire). So as it became pitch black out, and the crew attempted to retrieve us from the hillside with no access road, the tune of the theme song from Gilligan's Island kept coming out of my mouth "A THREE HOUR TOUR". Only with different verses, like: "The weather started out real nice, the tiny balloon was launched, then we lost the wind real fast and darn it we got stuck". And a few other similar verses like that. Luckily everyone found them amusing (except my husband, who didn't look happy as he walked the balloon down to the access road through the thistles). I may not have been as creative or amusued either if I didn't get to stay in the balloon until we were rescued about an hour later :) Oh well, I guess when you book a flight online from "Adventure Flights" they really do mean Adventure, they just didn't say what kind. Have a great week everyone! Sue
